Join us for our annual FREE screenings of the cult “classic” THE STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL on November 20th at 7pm! No tickets needed just show up!Universally scorned when it first appeared on November 17th, 1978 (pre-empting WONDER WOMAN and THE INCREDIBLE HULK) the rushed into production “special” somehow managed to wrangle all the original cast to celebrate the Wookie holiday of Life Day. Added to the cast are (scratch head here) Art Carney, Bea Arthur, Diahann Carroll, Harvey Corman and a trippy performance by The Jefferson Airship!
The “plot” is simple: Chewie and Han are trying to get back to Chewie’s home planet of Kashyyyk so he can celebrate Life Day with his family. But the Empire is after them and all the other characters pop up to wish his family a happy holiday. A short cartoon also introduces us to the bounty hunter Boba Fett who was to play an important part in the upcoming THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK.
Hosted by Skot Kirkwood, resident Holiday Special expert and one of the producers of A DISTURBANCE IN THE FORCE, the documentary about the making of the special.
