Standing With Our Neighbors: Immigrant Justice & Community Action Rep. Kuhlkarni's mission and DSSIN's values are deeply aligned. This is a rare opportunity to learn from someone who has lived the immigrant experience, built institutions to serve immigrant communities, and now carries that work into the halls of the Kentucky legislature.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
One-hour presentation on immigration law, the current landscape facing immigrant communities, and pathways for advocacy
Community Q&A — bring your questions!
Next steps planning for DSSIN's newly formed Justice & Advocacy Team and coalition building opportunities
ABOUT NIMA: Nima's story is the American dream lived and fought for. She immigrated to Louisville from India at age six, watched her parents build a new life running a small neighborhood grocery in Germantown, and went on to intern with Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch before founding Indus Law Firm in 2010. In 2013, she founded the New Americans Initiative to educate and engage communities around immigrant rights. Today she serves as a Kentucky State Representative, advocating for working families and expanded access to opportunity for all.
Open to everyone—DSSIN members, allied organizations, and all community members who care about immigrant justice and human rights. Please share widely!
