Australia Needs a Day to Honour Those Who Serve.
Over the past month we’ve been overwhelmed by the encouragement and support for the idea of Stand To Australia.
What began as a simple conversation has struck a chord with people across the country.
One message came through loud and clear:
Australia needs a national day to recognise those who serve.
Not just our veterans.
Not just our first responders.
Everyone who has chosen a life of service.
Our Defence personnel.
Our police, firefighters and paramedics.
Our nurses, doctors, teachers and healthcare workers.
Our correctional officers, SES volunteers and emergency service volunteers.
And the husbands, wives, partners, children and families who quietly carry the weight of that service every day.
Today, we’re proud to officially launch Stand To Australia.
What is Stand To Australia?
Inspired by the military tradition of “Stand To”, Australians will gather at dawn on the first Friday of October each year to recognise and honour those who serve our nation and our communities.
This isn’t about comparing one profession with another.
It’s about recognising that service comes at a cost, and ensuring those who dedicate their lives to others know that Australia stands with them.
This is more than a day.
It’s the beginning of a national movement built on recognition, gratitude and community.
