You know that pile of glass scraps you've been holding onto, not quite sure what to do with them? This class is your answer.
Guest instructor Susan Nachtrab is bringing her signature mosaic leading technique to Melt for a one-day workshop.
The process involves wrapping individual pieces of glass, bevels, and jewels in thin lead came, then piecing them together mosaic-style and soldering the whole thing into a one-of-a-kind 6"x6" panel. Small gaps get filled with twisted wire or curled lead for extra texture, and zinc, copper, or brass is used to strengthen the finished piece.
Bring whatever scraps and oddments you've got like bits of came, leftover glass, sparkly things you've been saving. Don't have any? No problem, you can grab some of theirs. Susan will also have glass jewels on hand for cash purchase if you want to add a little extra something to your design.
All other tools and materials are included.
