FOUR WEEK COURSE (Four Consecutive Sundays)INSTRUCTOR: Erin Connolly
Learn the fundamentals of glass art in this comprehensive and fun class! This four-session class is an introduction into the centuries-old art of Stained Glass. This course will focus on the Tiffany Copper Foil technique, and each participant will create a beautiful hanging window décor.
Topics to be covered will include:
* Safety
-- handling of glass and chemicals
-- protecting hands, skin, eyes, clothing, etc.
* Patterns
-- planning your project in advance
* Cutting glass
-- glass properties
-- using cutting tools, proper methods, choices
-- grinding/grozing/fitting
* Foiling
– proper application for the best soldering
* Soldering
-- proper handling and use of flux
-- proper solders for stained glass
-- soldering irons, handling, safety; cleaning
* Finishing
-- cleaning off flux, adding patina, polishing
* Troubleshooting
-- repairs; glass; soldering
Mini College Course: Four sessions, three hours each (cannot register for only one session)
