About this Event
Author, shop owner, and one of the most talented designers in the quilting industry, Stacy West exudes creativity and craftmanship in everything she does, including bringing joy through her generous spirit to those around her! Not only is she the creative force behind the Buttermilk Basin brand but she thrives to bring you a welcoming atmostphere and unforgettable experience whether it's in her shop in MN, her satellite shop in MO and through her curated events.
Come enjoy taking a wool applique workshop where you will learn the basics of wool applique and complete an adorable sewing-themed projects. You will learn her tried and true fusing technique, cutting tips, and basic stitches. We know once you learn the basics, you'll fall in love with this medium and get lost in handwork.
Stacy will be teaching the Create Runner and Sewing Needle Keep. Kits are included in the price of the Retreat. NOTE: Thread kits for these projects will be available for the price of $23.95 (or you may bring your own thread as needed).
For the Full Retreat Experience ($675.00)
- Includes lodging
- Tuesday – 9 a.m. Check-in, set up, shopping, open sew (lunch on your own), and afternoon scavenger hunt (dinner is included).
- Wednesday/Thursday – Breakfast, workshop, break for lunch, project sewing, shopping, open sew, dinner (Thursday Show N Tell).
- Friday – Farewell breakfast and checkout is at noon.
Interested in being an Early Bird on Monday evening? You may select the early bird option when signing up. Check-In time is 4pm and it includes breakfast Tuesday morning.
For COMMUTERS ($525.00) - includes everything as the full experience except for lodging.
Interested in a WORKSHOP ONLY? ($300.00) - includes only the Wednesday and Thursday events, plus lunch and dinner.
What to Expect From MSQC:
Sleeping Rooms - All rooms are upstairs and are shared - there are no private rooms available and a chair lift is available for assistance. The shared rooms are configured in several different ways and are twin beds. There are 6 individual private bathrooms, each with a shower, toilet and sink; all are just steps away from the sleeping rooms. There are two ADA rooms available upon request. These rooms have 2 twin beds each and a bathroom. If you need accessibility to our first floor rooms, please reach out to us via email ([email protected]) or by phone (816-265-1812).
Meals - Dinner will be served on Tuesday evening. A continental breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be served on Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday morning, enjoy a hot "farewell" breakfast before you check out and get on the road! Of course, for you early birds Monday evening, a continental breakfast will be served Tuesday morning.
Snacks - We set out a snack table - because sewing definitely makes us all snack-y. We provide light snacks for the group but if there is something particular you crave, feel free to bring it.
Sewing Table Seating - We do have assigned seating for the well-lit 4' sewing tables (personal sewing lamps are optional). If you are traveling with a friend or friends and would like to sit together - no problem! Please just indicate this on your registration form with the names of the people you wish to sit by. We also provide cutting/ironing tables, and power strips and small side tables.
Supplies - While the two kits will be provided to you during this time, feel free to bring other small projects to work on during open sew sessions.
Please bring the following with you. Of course, you will have full access to our shops in downtown Hamilton if you forget anything.
- Sharp small & large scissors
- Separate pair of small household scissors (optional) to cut your fusible webbing if you prefer not to use your wool/sewing scissors.
- Light fusible webbing
- Fray check (optional)
- Pencil
- Needles (Chenille size 22 or 24)
- Small table light (optional) - plenty of space to plug in personal lamps
Show & Tell - we will have Show and Tell time on Thursday night for those who wish to share other projects they have done or are working on.
Shipping – there is free shipping for all of our US guests who spend over $100 in the shops. We have reduced shipping rates for our foreign customers.
Cancellation Policy - we know things happen, but if for some reason you need to cancel after you have booked your reservation, please let us know as soon as possible. The retreat is only fully refundable 60 days in advance of the start date. In the event that you are past the 60-day notice and are unable to attend, you may transfer your reservation to someone else or move to another retreat at a later date.
