St. Paul’s West Seventh-Then & Now, 1901-2026

Waldmann is pleased to host a first-of-its-kind photo gallery exhibition and artist talk by local artist Ethan Smith, a 2026 recipient of the VIBE grant from the West 7th/Fort Road Federation. The exhibition showcases a project honoring the rich history and modern vitality of St. Paul’s oldest working-class neighborhood. Photographed using a 19th century large format camera, the exhibition features 18 photographs of residents and businesses. Each image is paired with a historical photograph or document selected in collaboration with the subjects to highlight the location’s legacy. Developed over the past year, this collection celebrates over 160 years of community diversity, strength and character.
