From 12:30pm onwards, come and laugh, play and get active with a bunch of awesome peeps. Connection, community and creativity will all be nurtured during this time.
Bring a yoga mat, your friends, or come alone.
--- What is an Acro Jam? ---
A jam is a time and space in which acro-enthusiasts from all disciplines get together to hang out, play and train. A jam is not a workshop or lesson; it is simply a gathering of like-minded individuals; we come together to share and develop new skills.
--- I’m new to this, what should I know? ---
Beginners are always welcome. There is no cost to participate (unless the jam is held indoors, if so there may be a small fee to cover rental costs).
We are a friendly bunch but please don't be shy to introduce yourself. It is totally fine if you do not wish to participate, you’re welcome to just sit back and observe.
Please note that there is no dedicated instruction at a jam. You may find experienced jammers happy to work with you, but there is no obligation or expectation for them to do so.
If you are looking for classes, you can find them over at the AcroYoga Melbourne Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/152312374814747
--- Is there anything else I should know? ---
Consent is awesome. You are under no obligation to do anything with anyone and nobody is under any obligation to do anything with you.
Bringing water and a yoga or picnic mat is a good idea. Also wear sunscreen/bring a warm jacket depending on the forecast.
Please read the following safety info
from Duo Die Acrobatics:

We have a safety response process! If you feel unsafe or have questions, reach out to a safety liaison or to [email protected]
--- Disclaimer ---

Please read etiquette guidelines below.
--- Etiquette Guidelines ---
A jam is a fantastic experience but to ensure you have a good time, it’s important to familiarise yourself with our jam guidelines and let us know if you experience anything that violates them.
All participants in a jam from first timers to organisers are held to the following standards, both at the jam events and when interacting with jam participants outside of jams:
1. We will approach all interactions from a positive place, assuming the best, being polite and respectful. We will not harass anyone. We will be kind to everyone. No one knows what is going on in each other’s lives so be kind and people will return the favour.
2. We will not discriminate according to sex, gender expression, sexual orientation, race, religion, role, nationality or experience. We will treat everyone equally, regardless of age, ability, physical appearance, lifestyle, experience or role.
3. We will be inclusive to others, welcoming to newcomers and we will be gracious if someone declines to train with us. We may say no without giving a reason, but we will be polite when doing so.
4. We acknowledge that everyone has a different acro path and purpose, in their acro practice and in their jam experience. Being respectful of others learning styles and expectations.
5. We will be clear with our communication and boundaries. Honest, polite and respectful.
6. We will be responsible for our own physical safety and those of others. We will manage risk appropriately and reach out to others if we believe assistance or spotting may be required.
7. We will be hygienic and keep a safe jam space. This includes keeping the area free of trip hazards, slippery spills and avoiding contamination with bodily fluids.
8. We will be environmentally friendly and leave our jam space clean and free of rubbish.
9. We will be respectful of others personal boundaries and remember they may be different from our own. We will be mindful of the appropriateness of language/communication that some may find offensive. We will not touch anyone without consent (including in greeting) and we will apologise immediately and correct our behaviour if offence is made.
10. We will prepare ourselves for a safe training session with adequate warmup, calibration drills and enthusiastic consent of all parties.
11. We will end an acro session at any point, regardless of how long we have been working with someone, we will also respect others decisions to end a session with us.
12. We understand that following the above guidelines will ensure a better experience for everyone and that participating in any kind of verbal, physical or sexual harassment or abuse will have serious consequences.
13. We will respect our surroundings and those using it. Being mindful to noise, skin exposure, approaching other users of spaces. Whether in indoor facilities, Parks Vic areas or greater spaces of the Kulin nation.
14. We understand that harassment of other participants via emails, phone calls, messages or social media will not be tolerated.
15. We will trust our gut, avoid unsafe situations and report unsafe behaviour that violates the above guidelines.
Keeping a safe jam space is the responsibility of all participants.
If you’ve been made to feel uncomfortable or unsafe at a jam or seen behaviour that you’re concerned about please let us know.
General questions are also encouraged, please contact an organiser, an Acrojam Melbourne safety liaison (Shani Connard or Laura Goldstraw) or email [email protected].
All concerns will be taken seriously and handled with tact and discretion. Complaints can be also be made anonymously if requested
