About this Event

Join St Helens Archive Service on the second Monday of every month for a relaxed, behind-the-scenes look at one of the themed highlights from our collections.

As part of the National Year of Reading, we’re inviting you to see our Item of the Month in person. Each item is revealed on our social media channels on the first Monday of the month, before being brought out for this small, in-person session at The World of Glass.

These sessions are open to everyone, whether you’re completely new to archives and just curious about what we hold, or you already have an interest in local history and want to learn a bit more. They’re informal, friendly, and a chance to engage directly with original archive material.

What to expect
You’ll be welcomed by members of the archive team, who will talk you through the featured item and its story. You’ll also be able to view a small selection of related material from the archives at your own pace, helping to place the item in a wider historical context.

There’s no formal presentation, but the team will be on hand throughout to answer questions, chat about the items on display, and explain more about the work of St Helens Archive Service and how you can use it.

Booking essential
Places are limited to five participants, so booking is essential. Please reserve your free space in advance.

On the day, please meet us on the mezzanine on the first floor of The World of Glass, by the public computers, before 10:00am.
