About this Event
One of Earth Moves resident artists, Toc will lead an informative and personal workshop.
Drawing on layered spiritual and cultural lineages, the work reimagines the well as a living point of connection between land, memory, and community.
St Brigid is evident in Catholicism, but also harks to an earlier Irish deity. She is celebrated at Imbolc, around February 2nd.
Toc is the creator of many artworks across the site and will begin with a guided walk and informal tour, sharing the stories behind the artworks.
He will share other examples of his work in a slideshow and explain how his art is shaped by queerness, the Irish diaspora, Buddhism, Paganism, and Catholicism. His practice weaves personal and collective histories into place-based art that is both devotional and social, intimate and expansive.
Together, we will help construct the slate artwork at the location of the original well, which was situated on Telegraph Lane on Earth Moves land. The public will be able to access and interact with the structure.
Placing offerings and intentions will be part of the process. This is a hands-on, reflective workshop—part making, part ritual—open to people of all beliefs or none. You are welcome to bring a small offering if you wish, or simply your presence and curiosity.
No prior art experience is needed. This workshop is about listening to the land, honouring layered identities, and co-creating something meaningful together.
Hot chocolate will be served. This is a free workshop, but we welcome donations to help pay for the event.
