Join St Albans Bach Choir in the magnificent setting of St Albans Cathedral for an evening of deeply moving and uplifting choral music.
Jonathan Dove's There Was a Child is a powerful celebration of life, weaving together texts from poets including Walt Whitman, Wordsworth, Keats and Emily Dickinson. Both poignant and joyful, the work traces the journey from childhood to adulthood and reflects on the lasting impact of a life lived to the full.
The programme is paired with Gabriel Fauré's timeless Requiem, one of the most cherished works in the choral repertoire. Rather than focusing on fear and judgement, Fauré's masterpiece offers a message of peace, comfort and hope, with some of the most beautiful melodies ever written.
Featuring: • St Albans Bach Choir
• Will Fox, Conductor
• Ruby Hughes, Soprano
• Mark Padmore, Tenor
• James Atkinson, Bass
