“This is my Son, the Beloved. Listen to Him” (Matthew 17: 1-8) Throughout Sacred Scripture, listening is instructed, encouraged, and celebrated, and we hear how God mercifully listens to us, hears our voices, and our pleas. The fruits are abundant as is promised, when we truly listen to God and follow Him.
Listening, we will learn, is an art. Like so many skills we learn, true active and deep listening takes time, practice, and a willingness to discover. To truly listen to God engages not only the mind, but the heart, leading to true obedience and the many fruits of following the will of God in our lives.
Often, however, we struggle with listening to God. We might ask ourselves why we are resistant? Are there obstacles within me that are preventing me from true, active, deep listening? And what about our human relationships and the challenges we can encounter in our every day lives? We will hear how communication and dialogue, in the spirit of Christ, will always be life-giving and rich in blessings.
“Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me-put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you”. (Philippians 4:9)
