Bipasha Guptaroy is an accomplished dancer and choreographer. Her primary dance training was in Kolkata at the Uday Shankar India Culture Center in the creative dance style pioneered by the legendary dancer Uday Shankar. She trained in movement creation and in choreographic techniques and other classical dance styles at the Center. Bipasha is the artistic director of Srijan Dance Company which was founded to bring the essence of Shankar style of dance to a new generation of audience. Dances in this style are universal in their appeal yet unequivocally Indian in style. Bipasha brings her extensive training in various dance styles and choreography to create independent and collaborative productions exploring unique and novel themes. Bipasha is a neurobiologist by profession.
Kohal Das is a scientist and classical dancer, currently the Art Director for Dance at the Council of Indian Fine Arts (CIFA), USA. He is the Founder and Artistic Director of Naibedya, a Massachusetts-based Indian Neo-Classical dance collective that blends classical dance with Bengali music, literature, and culture. With over a decade of performance experience, Kohal has trained in Bharatanatyam and Odissi under renowned gurus, and continues advanced training under Shri Parshwanath Upadhye and Smt. Madhulita Mohapatra. Alongside his father Shri Chira Ranjan Das (exponent of Uday Shankar Style of Dance), he is developing a unique Neo-Classical style rooted in Bengal’s artistic traditions, and teaches at their school, Ranjan’s Neo-Classical School of Dance.
