Square Lake "Floating Film" Showcase
About this Event
In the fall of 2025, we organized our first Square Lake "Floating Film" Showcase aboard The Avalon riverboat. We had wonderful films to screen, but the question crossed our minds of "where is the sense of place?" A few planning meetings later we launched the multi-year St. Croix River Tales as an "Open Call" for films about the St. Croix River Valley.
We have been truly blessed with the response to this project.
Over 20 films were created in just the first year. On 9/25, 13 of these films about the St. Croix will experience their world premier while we float down the river.

"The Last of the Shrimpers" by Jonathan Presson (2nd floor screen)
Info: We found this film while organizing our inaugural FILMS at the FAIR and instantly thought that it would be the ultimate experience to share it with you on the riverboat. The director, Jonathan Presson, loved the idea and will be with us on the boat so there ya go. The film explores how economic pressures, rising fuel costs, and cheap foreign imports are destroying the local Gulf Coast shrimping industry.
