Buffalo Bill Center of the West Members and VIPs enjoy the first look at Spur of the Moment: Iconic Styles of the American West before it opens to the public. Experience the timeless allure of Western-inspired design while enjoying appetizers and a cash bar. Western flair encouraged!
Spur of the Moment explores the historical and cultural influences of Western dress, pairing striking photographs with garments and accessories from across the decades. From the McCracken Research Library’s extraordinary photographic and archival collections to loans from partners such as Levi Strauss & Co., the exhibition highlights both practical attire and bold statements of style.
Visitors are invited to immerse themselves in the textures of authentic Western fabrics at a hands-on touch wall, then unleash their creativity by designing their own magnetic Western outfit.
A special highlight comes straight from the Levi Strauss & Co. Archives: Justin Timberlake’s unforgettable metallic vest and jeans from *NSYNC’s “Space Cowboy” era (2000–2001). These iconic Levi’s® pieces reveal how pop music collided with Western style, bringing a Y2K shimmer to cowboy grit.
Spur of the Moment showcases the enduring spirit of Western style across history and culture—from William F. Cody’s era to contemporary pop icons. Don’t miss this vibrant exhibition, on view in the John Bunker Sands Gallery from October 25, 2025, through March 1, 2026.
