Springfield Witch Trials

Hear the story behind the first witch panic in America on Sunday, September 20, from 2-4PM at the Old Meeting House Museum.
Elizabeth Kapp, Curator of History at the Springfield Museums, will present on the 1651 witchcraft accusations in Springfield, MA, more than 40 years before the trials at Salem. The presentation begins at 2:30 PM. Admission is free, and all are welcome.
Guests will gather at the Old Meeting House Museum at 450 Main Street and walk over together to the Wilbraham & Monson Academy Library, where the larger space allows the museum to welcome more people.
Afterward, everyone is invited back to the Old Meeting House for cider and donuts donated by Rices Fruit Farm to celebrate the fall season.
About the Speaker
Elizabeth Kapp joined the Springfield Museums as Curator of History in March 2024. She holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a master's degree from the Cooperstown Graduate Program, and has previously worked at the Arizona Historical Society, the Eiteljorg Museum, Colonial Williamsburg, and Old Sturbridge Village.
