Varieties for your spring garden! A tomato and pepper for every palette and growing situation. Variety list and description to come. All are central Florida proven varieties that we trial ourselves before offering- mega tolerant hybrids, proven open pollinated types and heirlooms.
VARIETIES and DESCRIPTIONS BELOW
*Note: we’re switching to 2.5 inch DEEP pots instead of 3.5 inch shallow square pots- plants will cost the same as before and the soil volume/plant size will be comparable with better downward root growth - this saves us nursery space and we’re hoping offers you a better product as well. Flats are 32 instead of 18 plants and because of that we will be offering a price break around 10-12 plants as well due to most not needing a full 32 mix and match flat. Yaqui Roma tomatoes will be available in a discounted 6 cell pack for our sauce growers as well. Thanks!
TOMATOES
Komohana- compact Hawaiian OP grape tomato- very crack resistant (snappy skin in a good way, great snacker) haven’t grown these in probably 15 years, finally found a good seed source.
Lemon boy - super resistant hybrid yellow slicer. A personal favorite. Original strain(the plus strain tastes terrible).
Black cherry - SWFL OP dark cherry- if I could only grow one cherry tomato this would be it
ItZ a keeper - super wilt virus and nematode resistant hybrid, a good slicer but meaty enough to be a good processor too. huge plants
Yaqui - workhorse compact determinate hybrid Roma, resistant to everything. We grow this variety 10::1 with all other varieties just for sauce making. Will be available in 6 cell packs
Medusa- hybrid indeterminate cross of Cherokee purple- heirloom looks and flavor with hybrid vigor. Very wilt and nematode resistant. My wife’s current favorite tomato
Sun gold - every kids favorite yellow cherry tomato- this is by far the sweetest tomato we offer. Hyper productive further into the summer than everything but Everglades
Cubanero - compact Cuban heirloom, high solids so a good processor
Gajilete de Puerto Rico- ribbed PR heirloom, hangs with the hybrids as far as disease resistance. This one surprised me a lot. Good rich slicer but very meaty, makes smooth sauce. This will likely permanently replace Costoluto Genovese and Grandmas Pick due to it being better all around than both of them as far as ribbed tomatoes go.
Montecarlo - hybrid indeterminate round red, fruits size between a slicer and cocktail very easy and resilient variety
Beefmaster - biggest tomato I’ve ever grown was Beefmaster. Good hybrid vigor and resistance to wilts nematodes and leaf spot. If you’re gonna try to grow giants especially in the spring this is your variety
Big beef- hybrid easiest big tomato but not as big as Beefmaster. Firm flesh, great for chopped raw preparations like pico de gallo. Always have one of these going each season.
Thai pink egg - xl light pink grape tomato. Very resilient for an heirloom and doesn’t crack when the rains start. Mild acidity for a grape
Bella Rosa- in a world of bland hybrid determinate production round red tomatoes Bella is a flavor standout. A processor that’s just as good for fresh eating. Wilt, heat and nematode resistant.

Barry’s crazy cherry - a wild boar indeterminate open pollinated production monster- multiflora genetics means each cluster of fruit can number in the dozens. Pale yellow fruit that taste good enough besides being a true novelty variety
Chocolate Sprinkles - hybrid striped red/brown grape tomato- super productive way into the summer. Very easy to grow
Mini Marzano - micro mini snacking size Marzano tomato (plants don’t get even 2ft tall), a great one for container and tower garden culture
Golden hour - another micro mini but with yellow and red striped fruits with occasional anthocyanin black streaks. May be my favorite snacking tomato. Great for containers and tower gardens
SunDipper - bowling pin shaped orange grape tomato with whispy foliage- if your kids like veggies and dip this tomato has a built in handle. Highly resistant and tasty beyond the novelty shape
Norwood Meiners - wild boar open pollinated streaked red and orange cocktail tomato. Little crack prone but worth that downside flavor wise.
PEPPERS
Mega Marconi - dehybridized sweet red frying type pepper. Veeeery tasty and productive
Ka’ala - Hawaiian developed thick walled small bell type pepper- resistant to the two things that take out peppers in the summer, leaf spot and nematodes. Up there as one of my favorite sweet peppers
Alliance- commercial hybrid giant red bell, if you want easier to grow huge stuffing peppers this one is a good call.
Criollo do Cocina - intensely flavored Nicaraguan heirloom, like as wrinkly mini bell pepper with concentrated flavor. Better than average perennial potiential
Jimmy Nardello - best tasting frying pepper, not massively productive but every pepper will be the best you’ve ever had. My favorite sweet pepper, period.
Sweet banana - classic pickling pepper, mega productive
Sugar Rush Stripey - red and orange striped with fruity baccatum flavor. This is our produced seed. Big plants, with beautiful fruits. Great fermented hot sauce pepper if you like things on the hotter side of hot
Kashmiri - classic Indian drying/mild hot paprika type pepper crucial for true Indian cuisine
Green Dragon - Chinese multi utility hot pepper- mid hot; good green, fully ripe and dried. Gangly plants need some support. Think of this as cayennes slightly milder big brother.
Blessing - mild hot resembles a stretched out bell pepper - a good pepper for stir fries if you want to add a little heat

Millet - classic pungent Chinese dried pepper - these are the peppers you’ll find in Szechuan cuisine as well as American Chinese dishes such as General Tso’s.
Serrano - our personal workhorse utility hot pepper, great sliced fresh, dried, fermented into hot sauce etc. this hybrid strain ‘Flaming Jade’ is highly leaf spot and fairly root knot resistant compared to original strain
Cap 455- the best perennial sweet pepper- medium sized tapered super crunchy and flavorful peppers due to being baccatum derived. Can become large perennial bushes if protected from frost.
Lesya purple - Ukrainian heirloom sweet that looks like an enormous biquinho pepper. Not the most resilient but a really neat pepper to try.
Antares - a open pollinated sweet that looks like a burgundy poblano but has no heat
Shishito - Japanese snack pepper, super thin walls- amazing blistered in a screaming hot wok for a few seconds with some sesame oil and flaky salt. Mega productive plants. Occasionally hot.
Sunsation- hybrid production orange bell pepper- faster to produce than a lot of other bells and very leaf spot resistant
Solar flare- a dehybridized orange cowhorn sweet pepper that’s very well adapted to our heat and humidity. Up there as one of my favorites.
Candy cane chocolate cherry- hybrid striped yellow to red and brown snack size bell pepper with variegated foliage. The most ornamental sweet we offer
Fish - Philadelphia/Baltimore heirloom hot pepper with variegated leaves and fruit. The story of this variety is as impressive as its looks and production. Great packed in vinegar!
Mattapeno- jalapeños extremely highly variegated brother - don’t expect anything normal with this variety. A true strange one.
Anaheim - classic west coast roaster, mildly spice
Mucho nacho - XL fruited hybrid Jalopeno with high leaf spot resistance. Great for stuffed peppers if you’re ok with them being on the hotter side
Carranza- hybrid poblano very resistant to leaf spot- we grow a ton of these for stuffing (rellenos), roasting, drying and frying. Most poblanos hate our heat and humidity and crap out early. Carranza doesn’t.
Ciliega Piccante - Italian heirloom hot cherry pepper. Core some, pickle or lacto ferment them and stuff with cheese or pickled garlic and thank me later. Very wide compact plants.
EGGPLANT
Rosita - seed the stars seed! PR heirloom light purple typical eggplant - a good roasting eggplant
Pingtung long - skinny tender purple Taiwanese heirloom- great for East Asian recipes. I grow a plant or two each spring/summer just to make Szechuan eggplant with.
Rosa Bianca- round purple and white streaked fruits- very tender skin and flesh and makes great slices for eggplant parm.

TOMATILLO- plant 2 or more for cross pollination!
Toma verde- medium to large green fruit, highly productive and fairly early to produce, tomatillos make you wait sometimes and toma verde is a little more punctual
Queen of Malinalco - heirloom long yellow fruited tomatillo that eats like a cross of a ground cherry and a passionfruit. Not one for salsa verde definitely best for fresh eating like a fruit. Very unique
Plaza Latina - XXL fruit and plants- needs to be FL weaved or in a sturdy tomato cage to keep them off the ground. These are gangly no matter what I do in time for the sale.
