Who Should Join
You’ll be a great fit if any of these sound like you:
- You’ve skated before and want skating to feel steadier, smoother, and more fun
- You can stand, roll, and stop on your own and want to build confidence through practice
- You enjoy clear, structured drills that help balance and control feel more natural over time
- You like learning with guidance, repetition, and room to figure things out—without being rushed or judged
- You’re curious about exploring your skating a little more, even within familiar skills
- You’ve skated with Skate Lab (or previous iterations of it), are an experienced skater, or have skating experience through a derby league
(Reach out before registering if you have questions.)
Who This Session Isn’t For
- You haven’t skated with Skate Lab (or a previous version of it) before
- You’re still working on standing, rolling, or stopping independently
- You’re looking for a first-time-on-skates class or learn-to-skate series
(Check Happy Wheels for learn-to-skate classes.)
What to Expect
This session of Skate Lab will include:
- Open skating with a chill vibe and no big crowd
- Opportunities to play and build skating skills, with progressions for every level
- Drills focused on balance, edges, stride technique, transitions, and control
- Variations so newer skaters can build confidence while experienced skaters challenge themselves
- A supportive environment where you can work at your own pace
- Roller dance basics
- Experimental fun! Skate Lab has a fluid “choose your own adventure” format led by Headbutty Holly, with help from the amazing Zelda and Kaitlin

Why Join This Session
This session is an invitation to keep building your skating skills while having fun on wheels. We’ll continue developing strength, balance, and control through steady practice, supportive guidance, and space to explore what makes skating feel good to you.
This will also be our final Skate Lab session before a summer break. We plan to return in September, so this is a great chance to keep your momentum going and enjoy skating together before the pause.
Skate Lab is a weekly skate party that blends open skate, familiar drills, movement exploration, and optional experiments—all designed to help skating feel joyful and accessible. As always, Skate Lab remains a fluid, choose-your-own-adventure experience.
