Watch as our girls bring this classic story to life like never before! What’s special about the “Teen Edition” of this classic? According to Theater Director Denny Foreman, “The arrival of Teen Editions has made it easier for high school directors to mount shows that may be ‘edgier’. Chicago, one of Broadways longest running shows, is one of those. The dialogue has been softened, songs shortened, and keys changed for younger voices. Some roles have been abbreviated. The show itself has been shortened to a run time of 90 minutes. Linden Hall’s theater program began the move to new and challenging titles with 2023's Little Shop of Horrors as well as last year’s SIX: Teen Edition.”
In 1997, the Broadway version of Chicago won six Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical. The movie version garnered even more awards, cementing the story's status as a legendary, timeless classic.
CHICAGO: Teen Edition was written by John Kander, Fred Ebb, and Bob Fosse. Set in the roaring 1920s, when murder and mayhem made the most unlikely celebrities, Chicago follows Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly, two women who find themselves at the center of a media circus after their crimes land them in jail. As they compete for fame, freedom, and the spotlight, this year's show will deliver wit, jazz, and dazzling choreography.
