About this Event
Put on your Dirndl and Janker, and celebrate spring with the popular Alpine Singers at the German-American Heritage Museum. Welcome the season with beloved classics such as "Kein Schöner Land" and learn about the rich cultural history of the Zwiefacher, a traditional Austrian/Bavarian dance that mixes and alternates a fast-paced waltz with a pivot turn or Dreher. Nourish yourself with delicious open-faced sandwiches, the classic Abendbrot or Brotzeit in German-speaking Europe, to keep up your strength.
Founded in 1996 by the late Herbert Traxler and his wife Carol Traxler, they perform a broad repertoire of Austrian and German music ranging from Volksmusik to Jodler, and from Baroque music to the works of living composers. Tracht is always welcome, and be sure to wear your dancing shoes so you can spin along with us!
