Hey @everyone! The **ODWA Plant Swap is Saturday April 4th from 10 AM** - Noon at Central Presbyterian Church, Corner of Dauphin St and Ann St in Mobile. 1260 Dauphin St.
Here's the 411 on the upcoming Old Dauphinway plant swap
· **When** is it? Saturday, April 4, 2026 10 AM -12 noon
· **Where** is it? Central Presbyterian Church Parking lot – 1260 Dauphin St Mobile AL 36604 **(please do not park in the far eastern (toward downtown) row**, this is where the plants a placed!)
· **Who** is it open to? ANYONE WHO LOVES PLANTS! You do NOT have to live in Old DauphinWay, or even in the city of Mobile to participate!
· **What** is it? A good time for plant nerds! We get together, share our love of plants, bring some to give away, and find some new ones to take home! In the process, if you have questions about plant-related matters, such as growing problems, propagation, etc…, there is a wealth of experience and knowledge for you to draw from!
· **The fine print**: Bring a POTTED AND LABED plant (grower pot, solo cup, or your best terracotta, it all counts! Labels can be as simple as a popsicle stick, old mini blind slat, or piece of masking tape marked with pencil or sharpie) and get a ticket to swap for each one you bring).
You may also bring unrooted cuttings, or give-away potting/garden materials, seeds, etc… to give away but these do not exchange for a ticket… (PLEASE MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO TAKE HOME ANY OF THOSE ITEMS THAT AREN’T CLAIMED BY THE END OF THE SWAP. BUT – don’t stay away because of that… keep reading!
· Once everyone has gotten set up and had a chance to see what’s come in, swap tickets are handed out. Then…
· At the beginning of the swap, we all take turns telling everyone what we brought - name, basic care, etc… nothing formal, it’s a friendly crowd and if you are really shy, someone will likely be willing to help you out!
· THEN THE FUN BEGINS! Once everyone has had a chance to show off what they brought, ticket numbers will be called out in ranges. When one (or more!) of your tickets falls within the current range, you get to go pick a plant for each ticket you have in that range! This will go on for about 20-30 minutes or so, UNTIL…
· (THOSE WHO WERE TOLD TO KEEP READING ABOVE TAKE NOTE) -** Free for all!** When swaps slow down to a certain point, the caller will call out FREE FOR ALL! At this point the plants remaining are up for grabs to anyone present, regardless of tickets.
- **Please note, out of courtesy to everyone in attendance**, We ask that no trading or swapping take place prior to the official swap.
· **FINALLY**: We hope to see everyone there! This event grows every year and is always a great, low-key and fun way to meet fellow gardeners and plant lovers! Don’t be shy, all are welcome regardless of experience level! We look forward to seeing you!
