Our Theme and Presentations:
Instilling media literacy skills has become one of the most crucial and challenging tasks for teachers today, due to new technologies and the radical polarization of US politics and culture. This is not a new phenomenon. Joined by additional special guests, Drs. Hart and West will present the history of American pro-Nazi propaganda and organizing in the years preceding the country’s entry into WWII—even our NJ counties. We will then shift our focus to the present, while conscious of historical continuities, to discuss and learn how to equip students with robust media-literacy skills for navigating and participating fruitfully in our divided and hyper-mediated society.
