Spring 2024: Golf & Networking Tournament (#club-apple-golf & 12G Soccer)

The Spring ’24 Golf & Networking Tournament is a #club-apple-golf group golf outing in which members get to golf and network with other #club-apple-golf golfers, family and friends.

• Building upon the succes of previous year's events, this year will feature multiple contest opportunities, a tournament format that promotes networking & fun, collaborations with local golf organizations for prizes , and of course... a great golf course!

Charitable proceeds from the tournament will benefit the 2012 Girls ‘pre-NPL’ Team that plays for the Newark Soccer Club. This team is a competitive girls soccer team based in Newark, CA featuring 13 girls born in 2012 or later.

• Parents and family from the soccer team have volunteering their time and resources to facilitate and staff this tournament with #club-apple-golf. Fundraising goals for the soccer team includes: Team Jerseys, Team Equipment, Weekly Training Sessions & Tournament Registration Fees
• An additional goal is for the girls on the team to receive a group golf lesson on the day of the tournament, so that they can have the opportunity to learn and enjoy the sport of golf that we love so much!

• Shotgun Start Time: 8:30am
• Registration Cost: $175/player
• Tournament Format: 'Super Scramble' [see below for details]
• Max # of Players: 124 (31 scramble teams)
• Each Registration Includes: Pre-Tournament Breakfast (Burritos or Donuts-TBD), Range Balls, Dedicated Warm-Up Time at Driving Range, Tournament SWAG-Bag, Entry Into On-Course Contests, Raffle Tickets & Post-Tournament Banquet.
• Apple Golf Swag: We will make a request for Apple Tournament Golf Swag for the tournament again and registered players will get 1st dibs at making orders (note: Only Apple employees are only to order branded golf swag)

Learning from last year, key updates are:

• PACE OF PLAY: We'd like to keep the round in the 4-4.5 hr range! As such, this year we are limiting the # of players in the tournament (144 ->124), Adjusting tee boxes for holes (e.g. drivable par 4s) and Lowering the Max score per hole (+3)
• PRIZES: Participants wanted more opportunities and chances to get prizes. We will again spruce up SWAG BAGs with a PGA Tour Superstore goodies and Day of Tournament Prizes will include trophies, 49er tickets, Golf Clubs, and more... Stay tuned!
• NETWORKING: Most players wanted additional networking opportunites pre-tournament to get the good vibes going pre-tournament. We are on it! Tournament Happy Hour(s) are in the works and this will be a great kickoff to the Spring Golf Season.
• FORMAT: Last year, we did "Soccer Ball Scramble" this year it's "Super Scramble!" that will make pace of play faster and hopefully more fun for participants (see below for details)

The 'Super Scramble' will work as follows:

• Registered players will form 2-person Scramble Teams
• Each 2-person scramble team will be then be paired with another 2-person scramble team to form your 'Super Scramble', 4-person group
• The whole group will play together as ONE scramble team [UPDATED].
• Program Planning Committee will put together full scramble groups to promote networking, fun, & fairness . Groups scheduled to be announced 1 month before tourney start date.

• Registration will open on 2/5/24 at 10am via EVENTBRITE
• Intended audience for this event are: #Club-apple-golfers, family, friends, and guests of 12G Newark Soccer
• Registrants may register themselves and up to 1 teammate to play with
• Singles/Free-Agent Registrations are welcome to play and will be matched with teammates

• Tournament Committee will create 4-person Super Scramble & Putting Contest Teams with the following caveats
