With work spanning basketball to football and beyond, from a broad range of newspapers and online publications, three remarkable writers -- Mirin Fader, Jourdan Rodrigue, and Baxter Holmes -- discuss their work and the stories behind the sports we love.
About the participants:
Mirin Fader is a senior writer for The Athletic, writing long-form features, primarily on the NBA. Mirin is also the New York Times best-selling author of Giannis: The Improbable Rise of an NBA Champion and Dream: The Life and Legacy of Hakeem Olajuwon. She has told compelling human-interest features on some of our most complex, most dominant heroes from the NBA, NFL, WNBA and NCAA, most recently at The Ringer. Her work has been featured in the Best American Sports Writing books. She lives in Los Angeles and is working on her third book, a biography of Larry Bird.
Jourdan Rodrigue is a senior NFL writer for The Athletic and the co-host of national NFL podcast NFL Daily with Gregg Rosenthal. Previously, she covered the Los Angeles Rams for The Athletic, the Carolina Panthers for The Athletic and The Charlotte Observer, and Penn State football for the Centre Daily Times. She is a recipient of the PFWA's Terez A. Paylor Emerging Writer award (2021) and the creator of "The Playcallers" and "Finding Rams" series.
Baxter Holmes is a senior writer for ESPN who focuses on in-depth features, investigative projects and longform storytelling . Since joining ESPN in 2014, Holmes has reported extensively on the NBA, beginning as the Los Angeles Lakers beat reporter. Before ESPN, Holmes worked at the Boston Globe as the Celtics beat reporter and began his career as a sportswriter at the Los Angeles Times. Holmes is originally from Tuskahoma, Oklahoma.
