Sports, Entertainment and Impact Summit: The Business of Doing Good

Join us at Harvard on November 15-16 for the Sports, Entertainment, and Impact (SEI) Summit, an unmissable event bringing together athletes, entertainers, and industry leaders who are using their platforms to drive transformative social change. Hosted by the Harvard Black Law Students Association, Harvard Kennedy School’s Black Student Union, the Harvard Black Alumni Association, the Committee for Sports and Entertainment Law, and the HBS Business of Sports Club, this two-day summit will feature inspiring panels, fireside chats, and invaluable networking opportunities.

The summit will take place across two iconic venues at Harvard:
Friday, November 15: Sessions will be held at Harvard Law School, exploring how sports and entertainment can drive equity and social justice
Saturday, November 16: The conversation continues at Harvard Kennedy School, where we will focus on leadership, advocacy, and the broader societal impact of these industries.

This year’s theme, "The Business of Doing Good," will showcase how influential figures in sports and entertainment are advancing equity, building sustainable businesses, and creating lasting societal impact. Featured speakers include:
Hill Harper – Actor, activist, and political candidate, Hill Harper is known for his roles in CSI: NY and The Good Doctor. Harper founded The Black Wall Street App to empower underserved communities through financial literacy, and he recently entered the 2024 U.S. Senate race in Michigan. His journey from Hollywood to politics positions him as a powerful advocate for social justice and economic empowerment.
Ivy McGregor – As Executive Director of Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD Foundation, McGregor leads global initiatives focused on economic equity, education, and disaster relief. With a broad reach and enduring impact, McGregor's leadership in philanthropy is transforming lives and creating meaningful change in marginalized communities worldwide.
Anthony Hill – Best known for his role as Winston Ndugu on Grey’s Anatomy, Anthony Hill is an actor and advocate committed to promoting mental health awareness and social justice. He uses his platform to highlight critical issues, making him a relatable and compelling voice for young audiences.
Christine Simmons – The first African American and woman to serve as Chief Operating Officer for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Simmons also led the Academy’s Office of Representation, Inclusion, and Equity. Her leadership in transforming diversity and inclusion efforts in both entertainment and sports, including as former President and COO of the LA Sparks, positions her as a changemaker in both industries.
