Spooky Music: Organ Concert with Dr. Peiyao Yu
Step inside the historic First Congregational Church of Riverside for an evening of spine-tingling organ music, haunting classics, and unforgettable movie themes performed on our magnificent pipe organ by acclaimed organist Dr. Peiyao Yu.
From Bach’s legendary Toccata and Fugue in D minor to music from The Phantom of the Opera, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Interstellar, and Star Wars, this special concert brings together classical masterpieces, spooky favorites, and cinematic music in the perfect setting for the Halloween season.

About Dr. Peiyao Yu
Hailed as "a firecracker at the console" by the Kansas City Star, Dr. Peiyao Yu is a keyboard artist specializing in piano, organ, and carillon. She has performed on major stages throughout China, Europe, and the United States.
An advocate for both historical and contemporary music, Dr. Yu's organ engagements have included the French Organ Festival, the Bach in Bales conference, and a solo appearance celebrating the Reuter Organ Company's 105th anniversary. She formerly served as Creative Advisor for the Asian Classical Music Initiative.
Her scholarly and interdisciplinary work is equally active. In May 2026, she presented the lecture recital The Timeless Act of Touch at the American Matthay Piano Festival. In July, she was named runner-up in the 2026 Mu Phi Epsilon International Competition and led a workshop on creating a Modern Recital Experience. She also hosted a roundtable discussion and performed in the opening concert of the Sound x Image x Dialogue Immersed Gallery.
Based in Los Angeles, Dr. Yu collaborates with Opera Italia and her nonprofit chamber ensemble, Almost Quintet. With support from a recent grant, she is also developing Music is Healing, a project combining organ music with meditation practice.
Dr. Yu holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Kansas and a Master of Music from the University of Michigan.
