Please donate to sponsor a Monk or Nun to join us for Vesakha (Buddha) Day, 2025!

Vesakha Day is a happy celebration of the Birth, Enlightenment, and Final Enlightenment of the Buddha. Each year we invite monastics from around the country to chant and offer blessings. Your support makes it possible for them to come, helping them with travel expenses, lodging and food as needed.

We gift (give Dana) each participating monastic and provide them food and lodging during their visit. The average expense for each is $300. Your intention of generosity is what is important, not the amount, so considering donating if you are able. Our goal is to raise $3,000.

Dana is the practice of generosity. It is a Pali word from the most ancient of the Buddha's teachings. Our practice of generosity develops non-attachment, or letting go, so that we can more freely practice love, compassion and sharing. Sponsoring a monastic for this very special evening at Blue Lotus is an act of pure Dana. And Dana is one of the most powerful blessings we can give to ourselves!

Offering the gifts is a beautiful part of the event. You will experience how directly the energy flows between the giver and receiver, reminding us that one cannot exist without the other, and that loving energy always flows both ways in this exchange between the ordained sangha and the lay sangha.
