Recap 1st Quarter 2026: Sac Prep Music Academy is fresh from their recent sell out performance of Pink Floyd The Wall & The Dark Side of The Moon (March 2026), in Sacramento. Arranged and Scored for the Guitar Project Orchestra, the performance took audience members through the entirety of both albums start to finish, and delivered a double encore of Pink Floyd's "Have a Cigar" and "Wish You Were Here." Stand out performances by SPMA guitar students: Kieran Dizon & Logan K; they delivered note for note solos straight from the record. Fans of SPMA Guitar Project Orchestra were amazed at the accuracy of the performance, as the cast delivered song after song. History of Sacramento Preparatory Music Academy and The Guitar Project ( & The Beatles Guitar Project) For the past 10 years, Director of Music: Benjamin J McClara, has dedicated his work to provide an amazing opportunity in music education. Students who take lessons are invited to join "The Band!" Throughout the year, the curriculum changes, to match the needs of upcoming shows that are being transcribed, scored & arranged by McClara.
"The music is the curriculum! If there song has an "A Augmented Chord" or an "E Flat Fully Diminished Chord," I have to stop and teach my students about the music theory. They are constantly working in an environment that is equivilant to year 1 and 2 college level music theory. The Students practice sight reading every week. And manage their songs, in order in their binders & they are expected to deliver on their parts in rehearsals. I tell students from time to time, "I'm not sorry for asking you to do what might seem impossible at first, but I know you can do it. Some day you'll look back on these years when you're in your late 20's or 30's and wonder how you managed to do all of these albums at the age of 12 or 13 years old. This is how you shape the next generation of music makers, this is the stuff! this is the jam! this is rock and roll at it's finest moment in music education, and it's happening right here in Northern California." - Benjamin J McClara
Sacramento Preparatory Music Academy has performed the entire discography of The Beatles since 2016, including all of the "Live at The BBC" recordings. They also performed a five stop tour of Guardians of The Galaxy! It included all the hits from the 70's and 80's from Mix Tape 1 & 2; and most recently as mentioned above: Pink Floyd The Wall, The Dark Side of The Moon. The ensemble has played in: Sacramento, Davis, Vacaville, Napa, Santa Rosa, Grass Valley, Folsom, Rohnert Park, San Rafael & San Francisco.
