Spirituals and the Freedom of Truth

Come celebrate Black History and Black Classical music in Spirituals and the Freedom of Truth! Join us for First Fridays at the Beach at First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach. First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach and Opera For Us have curated an enlightening event highlighting black composers such as Moses Hogan, Rosephayne Powell, Undine Smith Moore, and others, art songs, and opera scenes from Scott Joplin's opera, Treemonisha. In addition, there will be a brief Q &A session at the end. Immerse yourself in the soul-stirring melodies that have carried messages of hope, resilience, and freedom throughout history and our people. We will be featuring local BIPOC opera singers and female composers. We look forward to celebrating with you!
