Spinning on a Turkish Spindle - Summer Camp

Dates: Sat July 25, 9am-12pm and 1pm - 4pm, 6 hours total. Sales end: Jul 18, 5pm. Ticket: $70 + Eventbrite fee. Instructor: Teresa Beck. Materials fee: $45. Skills Needed: beginner. Class Limit: 6. Class Location: 2nd floor. Minimum Age: any.

Turkish spindles offer portability and versatility for beginners and experienced hand spinners. These ancient fiber tools are stable spinners and can be used either supported or suspended. In this all day class, you’ll learn the following:

• Prepare your fiber for easy spinning
• Spin singles (fine or textured)
• Wind-on, creating a little ply ‘turtle’
• Ply your yarn
• Measure and wet finish your yarn

You’ll leave with finished yarn, ready to weave, knit, or crochet! The materials fee includes a Snyder Turkish spindle and 1-yard niddy noddy, hand dyed wool, and a small supported spinning bowl.

A minor may register for this class, but must be accompanied by a registered adult.

Supplies to Bring:

• instructor will provide all materials
• $45 materials fee payable to the instructor at start of class. Cash or check only accepted.

If you are not feeling well, please contact the instructor instead of coming to the class. On a case-by-case basis, we may be able to reschedule you into a future class or provide a make-up lesson. Ticket fees are not normally refunded.

Depending on the CDC Guidelines for Hamilton County at the time the class is held, a mask may be required. If so, you will be notified before the first class.

Unless specifically stated, Weavers Guild classes are designed for ages 18 and above. On a case-by-case basis, a minor may be permitted to register for a class but must be accompanied by a registered adult who agrees to assist the minor during the class.

Fees are non-refundable. Your fee will only be refunded if the class is canceled or changed to a different date. Three registrations are required for a class to be held. Students will be notified before the start date if a class is canceled due to an insufficient number of students. Eventbrite processing and credit card payment fees will not be refunded if a student cancels for any reason.
