Spindling 2-Day Workshop (Mini Winter Class)$60.00
Day/Time: Saturday, November 16 from 10 am - Noon & Saturday, November 23 from 10 - 11:30 am.

Class Description: Spindling is a cost-effective, portable way to create yarn or thread by hand and it connects us to the long history of textile art. In this workshop we will spend a day getting familiar with the mechanics of spinning with a drop spindle, one of the very oldest textile tools, and learning to draft wool into yarn. The second day we will work towards "dropping" the spindle, or adding all the skills of spinning together to be able to draft a continuous thread with the spindle dropping to the floor. I will also introduce plying, which is when two threads are twisted together, as well as some other types of spindles, like the Turkish and takhli! All supplies included. Participants will leave the workshop with their own drop spindle.
