About this Event

TICKETS ON SALE FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2025 at 8 PM EDT.

Hard to believe that we are gearing up for our FOURTH Spill the Tea. I didn't even realize we had so much tea to spill! I hope someone is cleaning up after us. We look forward to raising a glass to historical romance with old friends and new, while we drink, dine, and dish with authors we love.

Finer Points:

What is the menu comprised of?

We are offering a buffet brunch which will include both sweet and savory options, as well as vegetarian options and non-pork protein choices. Drink options will include alcoholic and non-alcoholic options such as mimosas and bloody Marys as well as sodas, coffee, juice, and, of course, tea.

Where shall I find my place card?

There is no order of precedence when selecting a seat. Each table will host a special guest. Regardless of seating choice, all attendees will have the opportunity to engage with all the authors.

What is included in the ticket price?

Buffet brunch, libations, exclusive gifts and prizes, and a morning of fun with new and old friends.

What should I wear to this portmanteau of breakfast and lunch?

According to the latest fashion plates, the diamonds of the first water are selecting ensembles suitable for a garden party, afternoon wedding, or family affair (if your family is the royal family, that is).

How will I know who the other attendees are?

Everyone will be provided with a name tag. Please check your electronic correspondence for more information on how we collect this information.

Will authors be signing books or other materials?

The Tea is not a book signing. This is intended to be an intimate time of conversation. However, we do plan to have another After ParTEA where there may be an opportunity to buy books from some authors as well as get them signed. TBD.

Should I bring anything?

Since we've had so much success with the book swap, we will offer it again. We will have a designated "Book Swap Table." Attendees should feel free to bring a few books. You do not have to bring a book to participate in the swap.

I'm coming from out of town. Is there an inn nearby? Preferably with "only one bed"?

We have a room block with the Hotel Indigo which is home to the Hummingbird Bar and Kitchen. How convenient to be able to sleep a few extra minutes and then elegantly waltz to the elevator for a quick trip to the main floor--almost like living in Mayfair and taking a coach and four to the house next door. One might even say it's "too easy."

Upon procuring your ticket to the event, your electronic correspondence confirmation will contain information on reserving your room. PLEASE BOOK YOUR ROOM IN A TIMELY MANNER. We have a limited number of rooms and the block could fill up quickly. In addition, the room block link expires on March 1, 2026. Should you find that the room block has filled up prior to this date, please email us and we will work with the hotel to procure additional rooms within the block.

PLEASE NOTE: The Alexandria Half Marathon is the same morning as the Tea. There will be multiple road closures, including Union Street, and many roads around the Hummingbird. Some parking decks will be inaccessible and street parking will be limited. Staying in the hotel Saturday night or taking the Metro is highly encouraged.

Should you have any questions or concerns prior to the event, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected].

Cheers,
