Interest in spirits and paranormal activity pre-dates written history. Curiosity about natural and supernatural forces has always been a part of human existence and that curiosity will be the basis for a fun and thrilling event at the Derby Historical Museum on Oct. 4.
Participants will accompany Spirit Hunters Paranormal Society teams as they search for evidence of paranormal energy among the artifacts and spaces of the museum. Each person will use a K-2 device and actively investigate each room in the 100-year-old building. Flashlights will be furnished for safe movement within the unlighted structure. Participants must be at least 18 years of age and be able to safely negotiate stairways (there is no handicap access to the upper level of the building).
This is not a Halloween “spook-house” event, although participants will enjoy an exhilarating evening. They will use modern equipment to search for spirit energy, which may be generated by active spirits or may be residual energy attached to some of the museum’s artifacts. They will experience the thrill of seriously investigating the supernatural world with scientific equipment.
A limited number of tickets will be available for each investigative session… three sessions on Saturday, Oct 4. Sessions begin at 6 p.m., 7:45 p.m., and at 9:30 p.m., and last about an hour and a half. Tickets are $35 each and all proceeds go to Derby Historical Society & Museum. Tickets will be available online through the museum’s Facebook event, or a few tickets can be purchased at the museum, 710 E. Market, Derby, on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
