The inter-continental underground electronic music scene has been growing through the yearly European summer festival circuit - sub-genres being pioneered in Europe make their way in waves to our Pacific shores faster than ever. A new sound characterised by four to the floor kicks, hypnotic and experimental sound design, and ritualistic and tribalistic patterns has been expanding and reaching new ears and shores at a rapid rate. Unbound, this sound is being expanded and developed across the entire BPM spectrum.
One of the artists pioneering this sound is the multidisciplinary artist Spekki Webu, hailing from the humble city of Delft in The Netherlands.
Ambient Headquarters and SōMA have joined forces and worked tirelessly to bring Spekki Webu to Ōtautahi soil. SōMA, the most recent brand of Soundation, has been embracing the more experimental and hypnotic niches of techno. With the mighty Pseismic Audio sound system, and a multi-crew collaboration, this night is gearing up to be one for the books.

𖦹 SPEKKI WEBU:
Formed by his involvement within the gabber and tekno movement, Spekki Webu cultivates a sound that can be described as persistent and ritualistic. Whether in his DJ sets, live performances, or music productions, he deconstructs time and space with fierce precision and tactility. With a natural tendency to challenge the status quo, his productions found a home on labels such as Amniote, Blue Hour, and Positive Source.
Webu can be described as a polymath. His sonic vision is translated through his Mirror Zone label / Optic Portal label. As a composer and sound designer, he traverses multidisciplinary dimensions with his Signal Transmutations AV project and spatial installations presented at places like Lunchmeat, FIBER, De School, and Nxt Museum.
High in energy but introspective in spirit, Spekki traverses the crossroads of experimentalism and rhythm in an avant-garde way.

In typical Ambient Headquarters style, Spekki Webu will be playing amongst painted artworks, bone decor and low, ambient lighting. We’ll have a low stimulation zone for rest and rejuvenation, and loads of water.
SōMA advocates no phone use on the dancefloor. A party can never truly be replayed through a screen!
In order to respect the flowstate of those dancing around you and the artists performing, please take all of your conversations to the back of the dancefloor or the outside area.
