About this Event
March is Women’s History Month, an important opportunity to raise awareness of the achievements of women throughout history and in contemporary society. As part of our Women’s History Month celebrations Glasgow Libraries are delighted to offer a range of free author talks and creative writing workshops with inspiring female authors in libraries across the city.
For our fourth event join us at the Mitchell Library on International Women’s Day for a children’s creative writing workshop with local author and former journalist Louise Baillie. Louise is the author of Spectacular Scottish Women, an inspiring collection of 30 biographies of amazing Scottish women written for young people. From authors to athletes, scientists to singers, queens to campaigners, Louise’s uplifting book celebrates iconic women from Scotland's past and present who have influenced the world in incredible ways.
In this interactive writing workshop based on her fascinating book, children will choose their own spectacular Scottish woman to write about and illustrate - it could be a family member, teacher, youth worker, someone they admire in their community or someone famous and also find out how to research their subject and tell the world about how spectacular they are!
Free, Suitable for children ages 8-11
Please book a space for all adults and children attending.
