Guest Speaker coming in January!!
On Sunday, January 11th St. Catherine’s will have a guest preacher, The Rev. Dr. Heiwa No Bushi who is a Buddhist-Christian monk. He has advanced degrees in philosophy and systematic theology. He also received training in both Mahayana and Daishin Zen Buddhism. He places his teachings under the moniker of “BodhiChristo,” which means “enlightened Christ,” an amalgamation of the two rich streams of Buddhism and Christianity.
“BodhiChristo represents an Omnist-rooted spiritual framework that intentionally weaves together the contemplative depths of Buddhism with the compassionate ethos of Christianity. It is not bound by the doctrinal particularities of any single Christian denomination, nor does it seek to dilute the distinctiveness of either tradition. Instead, BodhiChristo offers a pathway that begins with inner awakening—a principle deeply rooted in Buddhist practice—and then extends outward into the active embodiment of love and service, hallmarks of the Christian narrative. The term bodhi—derived from Sanskrit (बोधि) and Pali—refers to awakened wisdom or enlightened understanding, the very insight realized by the Buddha. In this way, BodhiChristo becomes not a fusion, but a sacred dialogue between two streams of divine encounter, aimed at cultivating both personal enlightenment and communal compassion.”
