Special Rodeo at Central States Fair

Join us for a morning of fun, connection and rodeo excitement at the Special Rodeo!

Held at the Central States Fairgrounds, this free, inclusive event welcomes individuals of all ages with disabilities and their families or caregivers to experience the joy of rodeo in a safe, supportive and sensory-friendly environment. From horseback rides to stick horse races, there’s something for everyone—whether you're riding, roping or just cheering from the sidelines.

Time:

• 9:30 a.m. – Doors & Registration Open
• 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – Special Rodeo Activities
• 12:00 p.m. – Lunch

What to Expect:

FREE Event – No registration fee required

Inclusive Activities for all ability levels, including:

• Horseback rides with SunCatcher Therapeutic Riding Academy
• Animal encounters and activities with Red Horse Healing
• Stick horse barrel races, roping, friendly animals, art, bucking machines, and more!
• Sensory-Friendly Zone – A calm, quiet space with sensory activities for those needing a break from the action

Accessibility:

• Arena dirt will be packed for wheelchair and stroller access
• Volunteers available to assist throughout the event

What to Bring:

• Comfortable clothing (Each participant and volunteer receives a free t-shirt)
• Closed-toe shoes (tennis shoes or boots recommended)
• Smiles and rodeo spirit!
