The Seed of the Sacred Fig is an extraordinary film from renowned Iranian director Mohammad Rasoulof. The entire film was shot in secret in Tehran, before the director and key cast were forced to flee under threat of arrest by authorities. Since then, this dramatic thriller has been nominated for over 80 international film awards including the Academy Award for Best International Feature, a Golden Globe and the Palme D'Or.

The Seed of the Sacred Fig is an urgent female empowerment story, ripped from real-life headlines of the Woman, Life, Freedom uprising in Iran. It includes real-life protest footage, and focuses on the women of one family as they boldly challenge their father and husband, and their own cultural norms.

It includes a special introduction from director Mohammad Rasoulof, as well as the opportunity to hear from local Iranian Australian leaders about the Woman, Life, Freedom movement in Australia.
