Join CWCLC in supporting the 21st Annual Special Olympics' Open Eyes Program @ the ISU Campus in Bloomington, IL. Volunteer functions include: helping answer questions, visual acuity, color vision, stereopsis, moving athletes between stations, helping with dispensing sun protection, etc. Volunteer form here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1QvXi3Mekj4C1ChVaGyUKOknylapyME5C/view?usp=sharingThe mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Globally, 35% of Special Olympics athletes need new prescription glasses & 23% have never had an eye exam. Special Olympics Lions Clubs International Opening Eyes® provides free eye assessments for Special Olympics athletes.
The event is always well-received by the athletes, their families and coaches; and it is a great way to “get the word out” about the benefits of annual eye care. Please let Lion Valerie know if you are interested in volunteering by May 17 so we can coordinate the group.
