Join award-winning photojournalist Andrew Quilty, curator Ellie Waterhouse, and special guest Daniela Gavshon (Australia Director, Human Rights Watch) for an engaging series of discussions inspired by the exhibition Afghanistan. This powerful exhibition showcases Quilty’s photographs from Kabul (2013–2022), offering an intimate look at Afghan culture, resilience, and the human impact of conflict.
Program Highlights:
- Session 1 (10:30–11:00): Andrew Quilty’s life and work, Afghan culture through photography
- Session 2 (11:00–11:30): Western intervention and its consequences
- Performance & Tea Break (11:30–12:30): Courtyard performance by Afghan singer Zahra Elham
- Session 3 (12:45–1:15): The cost of war and the fall of Kabul
Afghanistan is a Museums & Galleries Queensland (M&G QLD) touring exhibition presented in partnership with photojournalist and author Andrew Quilty, and curator Ellie Waterhouse.
