During this free lecture, retired Licensed Educational Psychologist Barry Marks will use evidence-based methods to instruct attendees on assisting someone considering suicide. He will discuss: What is, and is not, considered a suicide possibility
What to avoid when faced with a possible suicide situation
How to find resources and support services
Speaker: Lompoc resident Barry Marks is a retired Licensed Educational Psychologist who has worked in the human services field for more than 40 years. He assists now as in pro bono student advocacy and is a trainer for the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) and the North Santa Barbara County Rape Crisis and Child Protection Center. He has served as the Advisory Council Chair of the Central Coast Commission on Seniors/Area Agency on Aging.
He has been a graduate-level instructor for the University of California, California State Polytechnic University and Chapman University. He has consulted with the Kaiser/Permanente Medical Foundation, California Federation of Teachers, March of Dimes, National Association of Forensic Counselors, Center for Collaborative Solutions and the Pulitzer News Syndicate.
