At a time when hope is diminishing, religion is dismissed and faith devalued, we seek to discover a new vocabulary for faith and prayer in today’s world.

“Grace and peace to you, dear reader,
as we begin this pilgrimage
to the heart of Holy Mystery.”

So begins Bill Huebsch in Speaking of God: Honest Christianity for a World Seeking Hope, the book we will study over the next several weeks. You are invited to rediscover the Divine as a Presence woven into every moment: the ordinary, the messy, the joyful, and the unexpected.

Topics we will explore:

• The Whisper Within
• Learning God’s Name
• Meeting God in Love
• Questions about God
• A Little Humility
• The False God of Certainty

You won’t walk alone. It will be a shared journey — among families, faith communities, and individuals — discovering that faith is never confined to the walls of a church but lives and flourishes in the heart of everyone. In daily life — around tables, in conversations, in acts of care and forgiveness — faith takes root and grows.

This book study will be divided into two parts. Part 1 runs six Mondays from Oct. 12 to Nov. 30. Part 2 runs from Feb. 15 to March 22, 2027, also Mondays.

Meeting Dates: Oct. 12, 26; Nov. 9, 16, 23 and 30.

Outline of sessions

1. Using the book as a guide, each session begins with a gentle Introduction that awakens our hearts and readies our minds for what is to come.

2. An Opening Poem touches the heart with beauty and helps us cross the threshold from study into reflection and prayer.

3. Meditations are offered for us to chew on and digest.

4. Theological Reflection invites you to ponder the topics quietly on your own or in conversation with others.

5. We’ll concluded with discussion of Pastoral Implications to put our reflections into action.

6. We end with another Prayer Poem that summarizes key thoughts and helps us take them away in our hearts ends each session.
