Speaker's Corner: Do School Boards Have a Future?
About this Event
Do School Boards Have a Future?
School boards in Ontario are facing unprecedented challenges. In recent months, the provincial government has placed eight school boards under the control of appointed supervisors, removing the authority of elected trustees to govern the schools within their jurisdictions.
Do school boards still matter?
What role should they play in Ontario’s education system?
Examine the history, current role, and future of school boards in Ontario. Join panelists, former Ontario premier, Kathleen Wynne; school board trustee, Weidong Pei; and ex-trustee, Nokha Dakroub, in one of the most significant policy discussions in education today.
Panel Moderator: Journalist, John Lorinc.
This special event is designed for teachers, professors, parents, students and the general public.
