South Street & the University of Reading present an original SITELINES theatre production celebrating 100 Years of Campus life in Reading
Sparks, Parks, Halls & Balls is a vibrant, site-specific theatre show celebrating 100 years of the University of Reading.
Set on the Whiteknights Campus, this promenade production invites audiences to journey through a century of student life. From the University’s earliest days to the bustle of a 1950s common room, the energy and protest of the 1970s, and the unmistakable sounds of the 1990s.
Moving through familiar and unexpected spaces, audiences will encounter stories, memories and moments reflecting the lives of those who have studied and worked at Reading over the last hundred years. This is an invitation to listen and connect with the many voices that have shaped campus life.
Inspired by in-depth interviews with students, staff, alumni and members of the local community, alongside discoveries from the University archives, this immersive show brings a century of study in Reading vividly to life.
From the creative team behind Amelia, Threads and An Incomplete History of the Oxford Road.
Created by Cassie Friend & Sabina Netherclift.
Produced by Rachel Helsby (University of Reading) & John Luther (South Street)
A University of Reading Centenary Grant project commissioned by the Centenary Memories team.
