A workshop for anyone interested in developing a creative practice in any art media or scientific/ technical inquiry, and at any level!
About this Event

Class Description

SparkJuiceFlow is grounded in the view that creativity is a serious, teachable practice – not a rare talent, personality type, or a moment of inspiration. The workshop is rooted in research, draws on multiple disciplines, and balances intellect with intuition. There is an emphasis on process over product. You will be encouraged to develop creative habits that grow into a sustained practice you can apply to your own work.

Most of the activities in this workshop will be individual ones, but there will also be some collaborative work with others in the group. We will work in multiple art media, and no art experience is required.

Learning Objectives

Students will gain:

Tools that are proven to build creative thinking habits
Approaches for adapting creativity to your own projects
Access to research about how creativity works
Opportunities for ongoing connection with a creative cohort
Instructor - Nancy Lowe @sciencecandance

Nancy Lowe works at the intersection of art and science. Currently, she is using her experience in both art and science to share creative thinking tools with artists, scientists, educators, activists, nonprofit workers, and other mission-driven knowledge workers. Nancy is a Bullard Fellow at Harvard Forest, and for over two decades, she has taught art-science workshops at colleges, universities, biological field stations, schools, museums, arts centers, and other institutions. Her art with science themes has been exhibited in multiple institutions in the US and Europe, and she has a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
