SPARK Series: The Business of Cyber Defense

The University of New England College of Business will host the second annual Spark Series, “The Business of Cyber Defense,” on Oct. 16, 2025, in Room 283 of the Harold Alfond Forum on the Biddeford Campus. A networking hour begins at 5 p.m., followed by the event starting at 6 p.m.

The College of Business Spark Series is free and open to the public.

A group of experts in cybersecurity and business will share their insights on effectively addressing ransomware threats. The panelists include:

• Malinda Gagnon, CEO, Uprise Partners

• Brian Gagnon, CTO, Uprise Partners

• Paul White, CEO, Paul White Company

• Luke Goodine, Risk Management Consultant, Chalmers Insurance Group

• Cody Braunscheidel, Cyber Incident Manager, CFC Response

Panelists will share firsthand stories about navigating cyberattacks, offer practical strategies for organizational resilience, and discuss the financial, operational, and human impact of cybercrime. Students, professionals, and community members will learn about security-first cultures and responding effectively to real cyber threats.
