Spadefoot Story Slam: Caution

Each month, the Narrow Gauge Book Cooperative hosts the Spadefoot Story Slam community, sharing stories based on a theme, selected at the previous month’s Slam. While inspired by the Moth Story Hour, our monthly meetings are not a contest, but instead are a way to come together and practice sharing, and deep listening.
The theme for June is Caution. This inspiration from the Moth Story Hour Card deck is a great place to start with ideas: “Tell a story about prudent behavior, treading lightly, hedging bets, or playing it safe. Vigilant rule-followers, overprotective mother hens, reckless thrill-seekers. Red alert - pitfalls ahead: hazardous materials, dangerous territory, toxic friends. Heeding the warning or throwing precaution to the wind. Slippery when wet. Tell us about a time you needed a warning. A time when doing something bad felt good. A time when throwing caution to the wind went wrong.”
Creative interpretation of the theme is always welcome!
Group Norms:
At the Spadefoot Story Slam, we are here to share stories and listen to each other. We practice sharing our experiences and receiving experiences without commentary. When you're not the storyteller you are receiving and practicing deep listening. It takes courage to speak in front of a group, and we respect each other’s stories and the time it takes to tell them.
Stories are told from the heart, rather than from the page, and must be true as remembered by you.
