Spade and Trowel: Leaves and Lessons

The old “chop it to the ground and rake it out” method of preparing garden beds for winter is out! Spade & Trowel members Jen Fredenburgh and Marcia Rahim will share the benefits of letting leaves decompose in place, as well as leaving plant stalks,
berries and seeds for overwintering wildlife. They’ll also discuss some good plant choices that provide winter garden interest to lift spirits during those bleak winter months. And finally, they’ll give tips on what to clip from your garden for use in upcoming holiday decorations.
