About this Event
Coventry and Warwickshire Mind is looking to recruit volunteer counsellors who speak a second language (specifically Polish and Panjabi) within our domestic abuse therapeutic support service, Space2Thrive.
Please note: the event will only run if more than five people sign-up and any interest expressed will only be taken into consideration if they attend the open day.
A counselling placement with Space2Thrive offers numerous benefits for counsellors, including the chance to gain valuable experience and insights as part of a larger, multidisciplinary organisation.
Counsellors will be challenged to explore and understand various processes within an inclusive mental health environment that not only provides counselling services but also offers access to a wide range of mental health support services and expertise.

This highly acclaimed trauma-informed service is at the forefront of delivering comprehensive mental health and wellbeing support to individuals aged 18 and over who have experienced domestic abuse.
Through a dedicated team of experienced practitioners, Space2Thrive integrates a trauma-informed approach into every aspect of its services. This approach is designed to increase users' understanding of trauma and equip them with the tools to better manage their trauma responses.
Referrals to Space2Thrive are facilitated by local specialist domestic abuse providers, including Haven, Panahghar, and Valley House, as well as by the Temporary Housing Independent Domestic Violence Advisor and the Complex Needs Unit pilot program, also delivered through Valley House.
Support is offered flexibly in community settings, with users empowered to choose from a range of activities, including one-on-one wellbeing sessions, individual counselling and trauma therapy, and psychoeducational group sessions.
The service also provides trauma-informed training for partner agency staff to enhance their knowledge and effectiveness in supporting survivors of domestic abuse.
In February 2023, due to its overwhelming success, the Coventry and Warwickshire Minds Space2Thrive service has been awarded a further 4 years funding to continue developing its innovative support provision.
This includes the introduction of Volunteer Counselling Placements to be part of the wider team.
