About this Event
Space Brain Hack Challenge 2024-2025 (13:30 - 15:30) 🚀
Youth participants will tackle open-ended challenges related to Gateway and key space exploration themes, sparking creativity and innovation. Through this challenge, they will brainstorm solutions, inventions, and technological advancements that could shape the future of space exploration. The goal is to inspire youth by highlighting how careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) play a crucial role in space missions.
📡 This activity will be led by Space Concordia, who will guide and support participants throughout the challenge.
Theme: Greener Satellites for a Better Future 🌍
For over 60 years, Canada has relied on satellites to monitor its vast landscapes, cities, forests, and climate. These satellites provide essential data for weather forecasting, transportation planning, climate change adaptation, emergency response, freshwater management, and more. However, satellite missions also have an environmental impact.
🌱 This year’s challenge is to find ways to reduce the ecological footprint of satellite missions. Participants will explore sustainable solutions to make satellite design, production, and operation more environmentally friendly.
The Challenge 🏆
As part of an international initiative, teams will develop innovative ideas to "green" one phase of a satellite mission’s life cycle. The challenge encourages teamwork, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving in the field of space sustainability.
